Four Most Fuel-Efficient Trucks

Fuel efficiency is becoming increasingly important. As gas prices continue to rise, people want more efficient vehicles. Luckily, there are plenty of fuel-efficient trucks on the market right now. Below, you can find four vehicles that have great gas mileage, so you can enjoy off-road driving without breaking your budget.

Ford F-150

The 4×4 Ford F-150 Hybrid is one of the most fuel-efficient pickup trucks. This vehicle isn’t a plug-in hybrid. The gasoline engine charges the batteries while you drive, and both engines work together to provide speedy acceleration and reduced fuel consumption.

This 430-horsepower “PowerBoost” setup works best at low speeds. The F-150 Hybrid offers 24 mpg when you drive in the city, which is great for low-speed commuting and scores the same 24 mpg rating on the highway. While this truck may not be a mega-off-road vehicle, it can haul a payload of up to 2,120 pounds or tow up to 12,700 pounds. It also boasts a new feature that allows you to convert the center console into a worktable.

Jeep Gladiator

The Gladiator, Jeep’s new pickup truck, is a comfortable and efficient alternative to the Wrangler. It appears bulkier than its SUV sibling. The Gladiator has the same removable roof and doors (which makes it the only convertible pickup truck), throwback styling, and off-road-ready versions like the Mojave and Rubicon. Thanks to its longer wheelbase, it rides more smoothly than the Wrangler.

While the four-cylinder and plug-in hybrid powertrains are not available in the Gladiator, you can get the EcoDiesel V6. It offers a gas mileage of 28 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Diesel engines—once associated with big, heavy-duty trucks—are now a torque-heavy fuel-saver option in most of the leading half-ton pickup models. Two leading examples of this are the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the GMC Sierra 1500. With four-wheel drive, these pickup trucks provide a gas mileage of 26 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city.

While the Silverado has a range of four-, six-, and eight-cylinder gasoline engine options, the diesel one is known for its remarkable efficiency. Despite this, the diesel Silverado can tow approximately up to 9,500 pounds.

Ram 1500

This is the luxury vehicle of the half-ton pickup segment, with the most beautifully finished interior and the smoothest ride. The Ram 1500 is a highly capable truck with its EcoDiesel V6 averaging up to 29 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city with four-wheel drive. The Ram 1500 also has a V6 gasoline engine that gives decent gas mileage.
